The NET TOOB Stream Player is a Netscape plug-in that allows you to view MPEG movies. Since it works from within Netscape, most MPEG movies you will view with it are those embedded on a web page. However, you can also watch any MPEG movie that is on your hard drive simply by selecting "Open…" from Netscape's "File" menu and then selecting an MPEG movie.

  14. The NET TOOB Stream Player has been tested with Netscape Navigator and should work with Apple's Cyberdog. It currently does not run under Microsoft's Internet Explorer.

  19. When installing the NET TOOB Stream Player, make sure Netscape Navigator is not currently running.

  22. Memory Issues

  24. After installing the NET TOOB Stream Player, chances are good that Netscape will need more memory allocated to it in order to run all its plug-ins. The solution is to increase the memory requirements for Netscape.

  30.     1. Make sure Netscape is not currently running.
  31.     2. From the Finder, highlight the Netscape application icon.

  103. In order for Netscape to know which plug-ins or helper applications to use on a given web page, it uses a convention known as "MIME" (Multipurpose Internet Mail Extensions) types. These MIME types are a text string in the format: "[general-type]/[specific-type]".

  105. In order to play movies, all you need to be concerned with are the following MIME types:

  120. Each Web browser (ie. Cyberdog, Internet Explorer, Netscape Communicator, Netscape Navigator) has a way of associating a plug-in or helper application with each a MIME type. Be sure to associate all the above MIME types with the NET TOOB Stream plug-in.
